As a Scottsdale, Arizona based artist, Julie Phunsiz is a well-known painter, graphic designer and muralist. She found her passion for art after facing challenges in her youth and turning to art as a form of therapy. Her journey began with small drawings in exchange for snacks, but she quickly realized her worth and began to charge more for her work. She taught herself Adobe Illustrator and later on ventured into mural painting.

Phunsiz first mural was for her mother’s backyard, and it caught the attention of many people. This led to her being offered a mural job for a restaurant, despite not having any experience in that area. She took the job and it was a success. As she continued to work on more murals, she sought advice and tips from a seasoned muralist, Jim Gardner, who helped her to properly price her work.

Now, Phunsiz is also a part of art shows and events which have exposed her to different types of art and artists. Phunsiz’ story is an inspiration for taking risks, knowing one’s worth, and not being afraid to ask for help.

Her motivation is to build a successful business for herself and become financially independent. She believes that money and art are not mutually exclusive and that artists should be able to make a living from their craft. She is also looking to develop her skills further and hopes to find an agent to help her get more jobs and commissions.

Phunsiz wants to use her platform to help other artists find buyers and promote their work. She emphasizes the importance of consistency and taking care of one’s physical and mental health to achieve goals. With the goal of painting a mural on an entire building in five years, Phunsiz is determined to use her talents to make a difference and help other artists.

One of the things that sets Julie Phunsiz apart as a muralist is her deep love and passion for the art form. For her, painting murals is not just a job, it’s a calling. She finds the process of taking a blank wall and transforming it into a piece of art that tells a story and evokes emotion, to be deeply fulfilling.

Phunsiz has a unique style that combines elements of street art and fine art, creating a visually striking and dynamic effect. She is particularly drawn to using bold, bright colors and incorporating elements of nature and wildlife into her work. She also enjoys experimenting with different textures and techniques to create depth and movement in her murals.

One of her favorite things about painting murals is the impact it can have on the community. She loves the idea of creating art that is accessible to everyone, and that can bring joy and inspiration to people from all walks of life. She often chooses to paint in public spaces, such as parks and community centers, so that as many people as possible can enjoy her work.

Phunsiz also values the collaborative aspect of mural painting. She enjoys working with other artists, and she often invites local community members to participate in the painting process. She believes that this sense of community involvement helps to create a deeper connection between the mural and the people who live and work in the area.

In summary, Julie Phunsiz love for painting murals is evident in the passion and dedication she brings to her work. Her unique style and approach to mural painting, her focus on community engagement, and her commitment to creating art that is accessible to everyone, sets her apart as an artist and muralist.
