Description
This is the very first ray gun sculpture ever created by Alabama-based artist Jeff Deroche, making it a true cornerstone piece in his long-running body of work.
Built in the early 2000s from salvaged mid-century and industrial parts, this handmade ray gun helped launch what would become a two-decade journey into found-object sculpture. The piece features a blend of chrome-plated metal, colored hardware, and retro-futuristic detailing—mounted on a wooden base. It was assembled using parts collected from antique stores, junkyards, and odd shops across the American South.
Deroche, also a respected tattoo artist in Alabama, has since gone on to build hundreds of robot and ray gun sculptures. His work captures the energy of sci-fi nostalgia, Americana grit, and folk art imagination.
This particular piece is not signed, but the sale was recorded on video by Goodson Gallery to document its authenticity and secure its place in the artist’s timeline.
